Perseverance is key to Multilingualism
Inna Figotina was born in Moscow, Russia. As a little child she faced difficulties to acquire her mother tongue but with the help of a Language and Speech Pathologist, she was able to overcome all challenges and eventually became trilingual.
Inna Figotina immigrated to Canada at the age of 7 and had to start learning English and shortly after French, as both languages are the official languages of Canada. Nowadays she’s not only fluent in all three languages but she also wrote a children’s book about her language journey with all the ups and downs of it. Her inspiring story teaches that perseverance, determination and hard work can pay off, no matter how hard it may seem at times.
Listen to today’s episode to find out about Inna’s exciting journey to
become trilingual, a French teacher and a bilingual children’s book author.
